At South Coast Swing we offer private dance tuition and DJ entertainment for dancing to Swing music. Take note there is no such dance style as Swing. Swing is the music and to go Swinging is to go dancing; although there are other more modern interpretations on swinging!

The classic dance style for swing music is Lindyhop, a fusion of jazz and Charlston that originates from the late twenties and thirties. Lindyhop is generally thought to be the ‘black’ mans dance while the whites danced Jitterbug, a more upright style. Both Lindyhop and Jitterbug reduced in popularity after WW II as the pop music of the day switched to rhythm and blues, and rock and roll.
