The Merengue, by common consent, is said to have originated from the Dominican Republic. And today the world’s best Merengue exponents still come from here. Over the years expat Dominicans have taken the dance style around North and South America. In Latin countries the Merengue is four times more popular than Salsa; probably a surprising fact to many of us.

The basic step is a very simple 2-step and so is quite simple to learn.
