Modern Jive (aka Le Roc or something very similar) is as seen in the photos here is

• very stylish and easy to learn
• very sociable and friendly
• great for fitness
• danced to the beat of the music, allowing music from many different genres to be played
• probably the most popular partner dance in the UK today.  Surprised?!
• danced by people of all ages, commonly 16-60.
• attended by couples and inviduals and class rotation operates

Modern Jive has its’ roots in Lindyhop (swing music era of the late 20s/30s and 40s) and Rock and Roll with modern day inflexions from Tango, Ballroom and Latin styles. Think of Modern Jive as a 'mongrel' of a dance, rather than a pedigree!!!  It's cheeky, fun and always entertaining.

Modern Jive is danced to a mixture of popular chart music from the Motown era to now: Duffy, Rihanna, Leona Lewis, The Scissor Sisters, The Sugarbabes, Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Elvis Presley, Shania Twain, Rachel Stevens, Tom Jones, S Club 7, T-Tex, Gloria Gaynor and Barry White.  We ALSO MIX IN swing from Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.

• Lessons are progressively structured from New Starter through Beginner, Improver and Intermediate.
• Dartford on a Thursday is a specialist Beginner and Improver class!!!
• Regular workshops are offered to quickly improve your dancing with good technique and style
• We regularly promote social nights for you to come out and dance with your friends and other dancers from competitor venues
